ESP Boston and Principal Bethy Varano welcomed parenting expert - and social media superstar - Dr. Becky Kennedy from Good Inside for a visit to the Hurley School in the South End! Dr. Becky met with a group of parents and caregivers from the Hurley community to speak about modern parenting challenges and hosted a Q&A for those in attendance. Beyond helping connect caregivers with an expert for questions and insight, this event served as a wonderful opportunity to bring the adult community to the Hurley to connect with one another.
After meeting with the adults, Dr. Becky was excited to share her new children' s book, That’s My Truck!, with the Hurley’s two classrooms of K2 (kindergarten) students. After a reading of the story, Dr. Becky chatted with the students about various social-emotional scenarios. While at times hilarious, this visit also allowed for deep discussions about feelings and how to navigate difficult situations with peers.

ESP loves the opportunity to connect our Hurley students and caregivers with an important resource like Dr. Becky. This visit allowed all ages to dive deeper into the tricky world of social-emotional learning (“SEL”).
Thank you for coming by this vibrant public school on your speaking tour Dr. Becky!
