Several of Equitable School Partnerships (ESP) of Boston’s partner schools recently hosted events to mark the start of the new 2025-26 school year. Members of the ESP team attended these gatherings, helping to coordinate participating partners, offer support, and connect with students, families, and school communities.
At the Ohrenberger School in West Roxbury, a lively BBQ orientation welcomed their 3rd-8th grade students and families as well as K-2nd graders from their partner school, the Beethoven, on August 28. Ohrenberger Principal Terence Johnson manned the grill, and City Council President Ruthzee Louijeune joined in the festivities. Welcome back students!

In the South End, the Blackstone School held a Back-to-School celebration in late August. The well-attended event featured many of the Blackstone’s community partners, along with backpack giveaways, a bounce house, and an ice cream truck. Families also had the opportunity to learn about the school’s art, athletic, and enrichment programs for the year ahead. Here's to a great 2025-26 school year!

The Hurley School, also in Boston's South End, hosted a Family Picnic to bring their community together and kick off the school year in September Representatives from various afterschool enrichment programs set up tables to share information about the exciting opportunities available to students. ESP is energized for the year ahead and looks forward to continued collaboration with our school and community partners to create meaningful, equitable learning experiences for all students.
